Capture Journals is a mobile journaling product that brings handwritten, typed, and spoken thoughts into one searchable space. Users can organize separate journals, add mood and context to entries, and easily rediscover past thoughts over time.

The challenge

Traditional journaling is personal and flexible, but valuable thoughts often become difficult to revisit once they are spread across notebooks, voice notes, and digital entries. The challenge was to preserve the simplicity of journaling while making everything easier to organize, search, and return to later.

Discovery & Research

We mapped how people capture and revisit thoughts across handwritten notes, voice recordings, and digital entries to define one simple journaling journey.

Information Architecture

We structured journals, individual entries, dates, tags, and search so users could keep different parts of their lives organized without making the experience feel complicated.

Entry Creation UX

We designed flexible entry flows for typing, voice input, images, and richer journal content, keeping it quick to capture a thought whenever it appears.

Search & Rediscovery

We created an experience for browsing and searching past entries across journals, helping users quickly return to thoughts, moments, and patterns they had captured earlier.

UI Design & Handoff

We brought the full experience into a clean mobile interface and prepared the key screens, states, and interactions for development.
